About Me

Why I Do This Work

Work Recovery isn’t just a concept—it’s what saved my life.

For years, I was caught in the cycle of achievement, overwork, and burnout. I thought I was pursuing success, but in reality, I was running myself into the ground. When I finally crashed—first with burnout, then with a heart attack—I had to face the truth: I had invested everything into work, but what about the rest of my life?

If you’re exhausted, overworked, or feeling stuck, you’re not alone. I’ve been there. And I know there’s another way.

The Price of Overwork

For as long as I can remember, I was driven by a need to achieve. I started my career helping people—first through exercise, then nutrition and lifestyle, then treating people in chronic pain. I felt called to do more, so I went back to school to become a counselor. But instead of staying on my path, I got pulled into the relentless pursuit of success in academia—earning awards, securing grants, climbing the ranks.

I thought I was obsessed with the human body and helping others. But really, I was obsessed with feeling important, smart, and in control.

The Warning Signs

During my PhD, I gave a talk on burnout to a group of graduate students. I outlined the signs and symptoms, explaining what to do to prevent it. And then it hit me—I wasn’t just describing burnout. I was describing myself.

I took three months off, did a digital detox, and found real rest. But as soon as I returned, the cycle started again. And this time, I didn’t stop until my body forced me to.

The Breaking Point

After an agonizing, sleepless night in the hospital, not knowing what was going on with me, doctors told me I was having a heart attack. How? I was seemingly so healthy.

I don’t drink. I eat “right”. I am physically active. I didn’t have any risk factors, or so I thought: I was overworked and miserable.

I survived, but I knew something had to change. I had built my entire life around work, and it nearly killed me. Now, I had to figure out how to rebuild a life that was actually mine.

My Recovery: Reclaiming Me

Healing wasn’t just about recovering from burnout—it was about recovering a better way to live.

Healing required more than just rest. I had to completely change my relationship with work, productivity, and success. I had to stop chasing external validation and start listening to myself.

I had to learn how to truly rest, set boundaries, and detach from work. I shifted from work as my identity to knowing and loving who I am.

I began reconnecting with nature—soaking in sunlight, resting outdoors, and restoring my natural rhythms. I deepened my connection with my body through yoga, learning to trust myself again. I embraced psychological and spiritual healing, shifting my mindset and way of seeing myself and life, opening my heart, and finding a sense of purpose beyond work.

And all of this—all of me—is still a work in progress.

I am walking this path of recovery, reclamation, and purpose right alongside you.

Why I Started Work Recovery

As I healed, I started seeing it everywhere—brilliant, capable professionals caught in the same cycle I had been trapped in. Overworking. Burning out. Struggling to keep up. And never satisfied. Addicted to more, more, more.

I knew there had to be a better way.

Work Recovery is about more than taking breaks—it’s about recovering yourself from the grip of overwork. It’s about finding yourself and knowing you are so much more than your work. It’s about designing a way of life, personally and professionally, that honors your well-being, fulfillment, and sustainability.

I started this work because I know firsthand that life is too precious to be lost to endless work—and I want to help others reclaim theirs.
